Making the Cut: On Research, Curation and Polemics.

2010 Turner Prize nominees Kodwo Eshun and Anjalika Sagar of The Otolith Group join forces with Karen Mirza and Brad Butler from to discuss the distinguishing principles of artistic practice that features research, curation and polemic as well as film and video production. Exploring the likely future for such artist-led initiatives, this event will be chaired and hosted by curators Emily Pethick and Steven Bode.

This event is part of Making the Cut, organised by Film and Video Umbrella.

Film and Video Umbrella presents a series of talks and events in which artists from London, known for their innovations with the moving image, showcase new work and discuss their practice. These presentations, collectively entitled Making the Cut, focus on artists who have made their mark over the last few years, while speculating also on the future of this kind of experimental practice at a time of unprecedented pressure on public funding. Reflecting the breadth and diversity of London’s cultural life, Making the Cut has been initiated in collaboration with a number of cultural organisations across the capital.
