The collective performance presents several actions that depart from the participation of Dance Physics and Joyce Gyimah in the Would you like to participate in an artistic experience? project. The evening includes dance performance (Dance Physics), readings (Ricardo Basbaum) and live music (Bruce Nockles). On one of the gallery walls a diagram is displayed, specially designed by Basbaum for the event and composed of texts from the project and script lines read at the event.
Dance Physics has been working with young people from the Church Street neighbourhood and Ricardo Basbaum's object for the past four months. As well as performing with the object at this event, they made a performance for the Church Street Festival on 4 July 2010.
This event is part of the second commission within Communal Knowledge, a pilot programme of participatory projects which is generously supported by The Paul Hamlyn Foundation and The John Lyon’s Charity.
Born in 1961 in São Paulo, Brazil, Basbaum is an artist and writer living and working in Rio de Janeiro. His work has been exhibited at the 30º São Paulo Biennale (2012), Garden of Learning (Busan, 2012), Counter-Production (Generali, Viena, 2012) and documenta 12 (Kassel, 2007).
