An ongoing project by Polish curator and artistic director of Wyspa Institute of Art, Aneta Szylak and Iraqi-Kurdish artist Hiwa K that seeks to rethink cultures of representation as well as create a space for intimate and individual encounters.
At The Showroom works and contextual material gathered from the project's earlier incarnations were exhibited alongside a single edition publication that further develops the themes of the project.
Accompanying the exhibition was a series of events including two new performance-based commissions by Hiwa K and Polish artist Joanna Rajkowska.
This project was a partnership between The Showroom and Wyspa Institute of Art. Hiwa K’s residency was organised in collaboration with the Serpentine Gallery, and Joanna Rajkowska’s project was part of POLSKA! YEAR.
Born in Iraq in 1975, Hiwa K now lives in Germany. His work has been shown in various collective exhibitions and his project Chicago Boys: While we were singing they were dreaming continues to be hosted internationally.More
