The Showroom works on the crossover between art, research and participation, and has a number of long-term ongoing research projects in development, both through individual artists, as well as thematic areas of investigation that are addressed through the programme.

These include Signal:Noise, which involves artists, writers, designers and researchers looking at notions of feedback and the legacy of cybernetics and information theory in relation to discussions around participation.

An area of ongoing interest is in womens' issues and feminism, which has been researched through projects such as Reproductive Labour, and Swedish Petra Bauer's film Sisters!, which was produced through a one year on an IASPIS residency in which Bauer researched British film collectives and documentary filmmaking.
