To coincide with the publication of Exhibition as Social Intervention: ‘Culture in Action’ 1993, the latest book in Afterall’s Exhibition Histories series, Helmut Draxler, one of the contributors, leads a discussion which focuses on how the project-based and discursive art production methods of the late eighties and early nineties paved the way for today’s decentred and dispersed cultural field.
