Sirens Taken for Wonders

Artist Paul Elliman continues his interaction with city sounds and the non-verbal messages of emergency vehicle sirens at point 7, close to the major thoroughfares of the Edgware Road, a key transport route through northwest London. Elliman has been working with soprano Charmian Bedford and DreamArts youth group (based at the Cockpit Theatre on Church Street) to form a kind of emergency choir that can sing back to the sirens. He will lead a public ‘siren-walk’ event around the area, responding to the range of siren tones as well as observing, testing and discussing the impact of these sounds on urban life.

This is an event to accompany the exhibition Ricardo Basbaum: re-projecting (london).
