A local Medicinal Garden building on local plant based knowledge
2016–ongoing
Penfold Medicinal Garden was established in 2016 as part of Uriel Orlow's commission Mafavuke’s Trial and Other Plant Stories which looked to the botanical world as a stage for politics. Uriel Orlow with gardener and community activist Carole Wright worked in The Showroom’s neighbourhood for over 12 months researching local medicinal plant use, which informed the development of a multi-cultural medicinal plant garden at 60 Penfold Community Hub.
Since January 2017 a gardening group has reformed and continues to expand - to maintain, develop and use the medicinal garden through collective workshops taking place every Friday.
