2008–2009
This comprised the second instalment of a two-part solo show by The Otolith Group (the first held at Gasworks), a series of events, including a seminar with the artists and discussions with filmmaker Eyal Sivan and Bidoun magazine, and a new monograph designed by Will Holder.
The show was the premiere of Otolith III, a single screen projection that replayed Satyajit Ray’s unrealised science fiction film The Alien as a series of competing past potential futures. It was the first exhibition at The Showroom’s new site in the Church Street area.
The Otolith Group received a nomination for the Turner Prize 2010 for their A Long Time Between Suns project and the respective exhibitions at Gasworks and The Showroom.
A Long Time Between Suns is a two-part project organised in collaboration with Gasworks, London.
Founded in 2002 by Anjalika Sagar and Kodwo Eshun who live and work in London, The Otolith Group explores the moving image, the archive, the sonic and the aural within the gallery context.
