The Showroom was established in 1983, so in 2023 we celebrate forty years of supporting artists in London, and our role in the development of contemporary art practice.

For four decades The Showroom has shared a free and accessible programme of exhibitions and public events. Our engaging, collaborative programme continues to challenge what art can be and do, contributing to art ecologies locally, nationally and internationally.

The fortieth anniversary programme of exhibitions and events runs from July 2023–July 2024; and opened with The Showroom Mural Commission 2023-24, Kay Abude, Be Creative Remain Resilient.

The fortieth anniversary programme of exhibitions and events is generously supported by Cockayne - Grants for the Arts and The London Community Foundation.

The Showroom has been an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation since 1996, and we also celebrate this ongoing support together with the continued generosity of our supporters, donors and patrons.
