A celebration of Pauline Boudry/Renate Lorenz's Aftershow publication, published by Sternberg Press, and edited with Anja Casser, in collaboration with Electra. Pauline Boudry and Renate Lorenz will introduce the book, special readings and an exclusive London preview of their 2014 film Opaque

As an artists' book, Aftershow engages with the recent film installations of Boudry/Lorenz through a number of (fictitious) letters to friends and collaborators, including Sharon Hayes, Yvonne Rainer, Ginger Brooks Takahashi, and Jack Smith, placing the work in a context of debates around temporalities, activism, the archival, decolonizing practices, and queer histories. Using installation shots, research material, scripts, and film stills to give insight into the artists' investigation of performance in film and their dense net of references to experimental cinema, the history of photography, sound, and underground (drag) performances, Aftershow alludes to opaque events that are belated, left backstage or off-screen.

The book will be available for the special price of £10 on the evening.

This event, co-organised with Electra, coincides with Boudry/Lorenz's exhibition Portrait of an EYe at Kunsthalle Zurich and forthcoming solo presentation at Nottingham Contemporary (10 October to 31 December 2015).
