Ayreen Anastas and Rene Gabri: Let it not be said they were naively, fearfully, simply, just making art

2013–2014

Described by Anastas and Gabri as a 'non-project', Let it not be said... aimed to open up a horizon of the common(s) and to interrogate the social power and social relations that money bestows and imposes.

It comprised of A continuous film altered daily as well as traces of ideas, questions, encounters, and vulnerabilities.

This non-project was part of a larger endeavour called Commoning Times and running alongside the presentation at The Showroom were meetings of the London common(s) course.

During their stay in London, the artists also held a residency at Delfina Foundation around The Politics of Food.

Let it not be said... led to further presentations by the artists around these ideas: An Uncommon Festival of the Common(s) at Casco – Office for Art, Design and Theory in May 2013 and an exhibition titled The Paths to the Common(s) Are Infinite at Tensta Konsthall in summer 2014.
